Fire Department Survey

During the fire department survey, a field representative will interview the fire chief or other responsible official. Our representative will also visit fire stations and other facilities, such as training grounds, to review:

  • fire station locations, apparatus, and equipment carried
  • pumper and hose tests
  • aerial ladder and elevating platform tests
  • training

Fire stations and apparatus

Our field representative will review and verify information on fire stations, apparatus, and equipment.

Pumper tests

Our field representative will review and verify records of pumper performance tests. We recognize only tests conducted as described in NFPA 1911, Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Automotive Fire Apparatus.

Hose tests

Our field representative will review and verify records of hose tests. We recognize only tests conducted as described in NFPA 1962, Standard for the Inspection, Care, and Use of Fire Hose, Couplings, and Nozzles and the Service Testing of Fire Hose.

Aerial ladder and elevating platform tests

Our field representative will review and verify records of aerial ladder and elevating platform performance tests. We recognize only tests conducted as described in NFPA 1911, Standard for the Inspection, Maintenance, Testing, and Retirement of In-Service Automotive Fire Apparatus.

Training

Our field representative will evaluate your training facilities and examine records of training. We will focus on classroom and field training related to suppression of structure fires.
