HAPPENINGS IN COMMUNITY HAZARD MITIGATION
Pictured left to right are Butch Cobb, ISO’s national director, Community Hazard Mitigation; Chief Alan Brunacini, Phoenix Fire Department (ret.); and Chief Shane Ray, superintendent of the South Carolina Fire Academy.
Chief Alan Brunacini, one of the most prominent leaders in the fire service, was the first active fire service member to hold the position of chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Chief Brunacini has authored or coauthored nine books, including Fire Command. Used by fire departments across the nation, Fire Command explains precise procedures for approaching and mitigating a hazardous situation. He has also served as fire chief of the Phoenix Fire Department and as the chairman of the NFPA 1710 Technical Committee for Fire Service Organization and Deployment Projects.
Butch Cobb, ISO’s national director, Community Hazard Mitigation, had the pleasure of celebrating at Brunacini’s 75th birthday party. Cobb had the opportunity to extend birthday wishes to Chief Brunacini as well as network with many other leading fire service leaders from around the country.
